With the aim to provide information on sources of funding for organisations and community groups across South Lanarkshire, VASLan held a virtual Third Sector Forum on Tuesday 29th March. It’s the first event of 2022.

Attended by as many as 30 representatives of third sector organisations and community groups in South Lanarkshire, the webinar kicked off with an overview of the VASLan Managed Fund.  It is a form of funding that is administered and distributed by VASLan on behalf of our partners or the Scottish Government.

The Third Sector Forum Event is about to get better. And we need your help!

VASLan is poised for its first Third Sector Forum event of 2022 on Tuesday, 29^th March at 10.30 am to 12.00 pm. The event will announce an update on VASLan managed funds, including the Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund, Integrated Care Fund (ICF) and Building & Celebrating Communities (BCC). It is an open invitation to organisations and community groups all across South Lanarkshire to network and share ideas.

On Friday 26^th November, NHS Lanarkshire officials were joined by Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASLan) and Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) member of staff for a free online information session on current guidance on COVID-19 safety arrangements. This event aims to help the third sector organisations to return to pre-COVID-19 operations while maintaining the safety of the people.

On Wednesday 8^th December, VASLan Third Sector Forum held a virtual Christmas Market and was joined by colleagues from social enterprises across South Lanarkshire. They showcased their products that are available to purchase as gifts for the festive season.

During the last series of the forum in 2021, we also welcomed our colleagues from Social Enterprise Network Scotland (SENScot) and FirstPort which gave an interesting presentation of support that is available to develop enterprising activities.

We all recognise that Christmas and New Year are times of great celebration providing people with an opportunity to come together, exchange gifts, share memories and show friends and family how important they are to us.

However, it is almost impossible to get through Christmas without experiencing some level of stress.

For many it can be a time that brings financial pressure, stress, loneliness and can remind us of sad times in our lives.

The board of Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASLan) are pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Sweeney as our new CEO. 

Every three months South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface travels to the four localities for to facilitate Third Sector Forums. This is a chance for organisations to network, expand their knowledge and ask their burning questions.

Disclosure Scotland are making a temporary change to how applications are processed.

They have been working closely with the Scottish Government and key stakeholders on our response to coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition to their prioritisation of checks for those who have the most vital roles supporting the country during this time, as of Monday 30 March  they will no longer be accepting paper applications.

On Monday (30 March) a new page will go live on their website with all the materials you need to continue to submit applications.
