Completing Your OSCR Annual Return

The annual monitoring requirements for charities can seem daunting to those completing the process for the first time. This session aims to support those in such a position, as well as those with previous experience, to understand the key requirements of the process. The trustees’ annual report, independent examiner’s report, accounts and annual return form are all covered in order to reduce the likelihood of your submission being rejected by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

Bridge to Volunteering

If you feel you would like a little support to get ready to volunteer VASLan will be holding a Bridge to Volunteering workshop.

Presenting Receipts & Payments Accounts

Suitable for organisations that prepare accounts on a receipts & payments basis, this session explains how to format your accounts and avoid common mistakes. The session provides an overview of the statement of receipts & payments, statement of balances, external scrutiny and the difference between restricted and unrestricted funding. Ideal for those who are new to producing final accounts to satisfy the conditions of charity law as well as unincorporated third sector organisations that are not charities.

Basic Book Keeping

The course provides advice and guidance around effective book keeping for third sector organisations. Participants receive a basic introduction to book keeping and financial procedures delivered through practical, hands-on exercises that can be applied within your own organisation. Topics covered include managing money, dealing with petty cash and presenting and analysis your own accounts. Ideal for those new to book keeping as well as those who wish to adopt best practice.

An interactive workshop for new and existing committee members, this course covers the roles and responsibilities of office bearers and other members of the committee, constitutions, minutes, agendas and, ultimately, how to hold effective meetings.
