2021 marks the 37th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when VASLan will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK and thanking them for all they do.

Third Sector Resilience Fund

News Date

The Third Sector Resilience Fund (TSRF) is a £20 million emergency fund for third sector organisations in Scotland. It is part of a £350m support package for the sector in Scotland in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. 

The fund will support organisations across the third sector who are at risk of closure due to a sharp decrease in income or that are unable to deliver their services during this difficult period.

We know that these are difficult times and that many of you have been working very hard to make sure that the vulnerable people in your communities continue to be supported.

Following on from last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister and the First Minister we now need your ongoing help and assistance in supporting the needs of your local communities. 

We will very shortly provide information on how you can to do this safely by following the guidance you will be given.

Business as Usual

Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire are following all government advice on how to respond to the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation, we will keep the Third Sector and stakeholders informed of any changes in our working practices and services.

In line with this advice, as of Friday 20th March 2020 we introducing a ‘Work from Home’ model until further notice. Our staff have been provided with the necessary infrastructure to ensure that we can maintain support and contact with South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector and our partners.

Coronavirus Advice and Guidelines

Over recent days we have seen a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases within Lanarkshire. It is our priority that everyone in our community remains safe and is aware of the advice and guidelines provided by the Scottish Government, NHS and the Local Authority.

It has come to that time of year again when we are asking you to think about the important volunteers and organisations who work hard for and within the community of South Lanarkshire.

We are asking you to send in nominations for our 6 categories. The awards aim to recognise the wide, varied and vital work carried out by the third sector on a daily basis.

Young Volunteer Award

Volunteer Management Stage 3: Support and Supervision

What is best practice in terms of Support and Supervision? 

How can I deal with challenging situations that arise? 

Join us in our third of four training modules as we explore all things Support and Supervision. 

This session aims to give you simple guidelines and practical information so that your group can successfully manage volunteers.

In this session we will cover: 

Volunteer Management Stage 1: Policies and Procedures

What are the essential policies and procedures recommended for all volunteering involving organisations?

Join us in our first of 4 training modules as we explore these essential policies and procedures.

This session is aimed at organisations who are at a stage where they feel they could benefit from involving volunteers, or in fact already involve volunteers, but would like to re-examine their procedures and processes. This course will cover:

- Identifying the need for policies and procedures.
