VASLan welcomes Lauren McKechnie as the new Chairperson of the Trustee

VASLan is delighted to announce the appointment of Lauren McKechnie as Chairperson of its Board of Trustees.

Lauren officially joined the team as Chairperson on Friday, 3rd March 2023.

Lauren McKechnie said: “It’s a wonderful genuine privilege and honour to be appointed as Chairperson. It’s a wonderful organisation that I previously worked with throughout my career. To be part of the Board and to sit as the Chairperson of the Board is an honour.”

“It’s a wonderful Board filled with incredible Trustees with a wealth of skills and expertise. To be surrounded by those colleagues and be so inspired and learn from them is a privilege.”

Lauren McKechnie holds several roles at other organisations, including Deputy Chief Executive at Bolton Community and Voluntary Services (CVS) and Trustee at RSPCA Warrington, Halton, and St Helens Branch.

VASLan Chief Executive Steven Sweeney said: “I am delighted that we have appointed Lauren as our new Chair. We have forged a strong working relationship during her time as a board member; I am excited to build on this. It will be interesting to see how we can use this platform to share best practices between Bolton and South Lanarkshire.”

“Lauren will be in South Lanarkshire regularly for board meetings, sector events, and to meet with member organisations. Pleased we are able to tap into her skills and expertise as we aspire to model best practice good governance as a Third Sector Interface.”

 

Lauren is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Bolton Community and Voluntary Services and trustee of RSPCA Warrington, Halton and St Helens. With a BA in Sports and a MSc in Public Health, Lauren has a particular interest in person-centred health, wellbeing and physical activity. Lauren lives in North West England with her husband Derek and rescues Akita, Simba.
