CEO Recruitment Update

Please see the below update from Niall McShannon, VASLan Chair, regarding the recent CEO recruitment:

"Following a recruitment process over the past few weeks, I’m pleased to confirm the appointment of Jimmy Wilson as Chief Executive of VASLan.

The role attracted strong interest, with 33 applications received. Nine candidates were invited to first stage interviews and four progressed to a second stage. While the candidates were of a very high calibre, the Board felt that none quite matched the particular blend of experience and sector representation the role requires.

Following the interviews, the Board entered into discussion with Jimmy, who has served as Interim CEO for the past 16 months, about the possibility of taking on the role on a three-day-per-week basis. After careful consideration, and recognising both Jimmy’s commitment to the organisation and the strength of the wider leadership team, the Board agreed that this approach would provide the right balance of leadership, capacity and continuity.

Jimmy will continue in the role full-time until June 2026 before moving to a three-day-per-week position thereafter, with the VASLan leadership team stepping up to further strengthen both operational and strategic capacity.

The Board is confident that this arrangement will ensure VASLan continues to effectively represent and support the third sector while strengthening our work with partners across South Lanarkshire."
