South Lanarkshire is one of 32 Scottish local authorities and covers an area of 1,772 km, with a population of 327,000 (Scotland’s Census 2022). It borders Dumfries & Galloway, East Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, Scottish Borders and West Lothian, and is split into 4 localities: Cambuslang & Rutherglen, Clydesdale, East Kilbride and Hamilton.

In order to best support South Lanarkshire’s third sector, VASLan operates a Locality Model, allocating development staff members to each of these 4 localities as a first point of contact, creating a consistent journey for those seeking to access VASLan services and support. The locality teams deliver regular support surgeries in the heart of communities, providing advice and guidance on establishing new groups, applying for funding, recruiting volunteers, implementing best governance practice, and more. Please see our staff page for information on your locality team members and the what's on page for details of upcoming support surgeries in your area.
