The First South Lanarkshire Social Enterprise Network Meeting

On Wednesday the 30th of November, VASLan had the inaugural meeting of the South Lanarkshire Social Enterprise Network. It has been a long time coming and we look forward to events in the future. The network will be a valuable vehicle for progress and growth across South Lanarkshire.

It was a successful meeting with great ideas shared and plans made for the future. We were joined by those from local organisations and were grateful to have the Director of Membership at Social Enterprise Scotland Kim Wallace to give an update on the move to the single intermediary.

Social Enterprises are a vehicle for success. They address social needs, strengthen communities, improve people's life chances and/ or protect the environment. South Lanarkshire has a strong heritage with Social Enterprise with Robert Owen at New Lanark in the 19th century.

Social Enterprises are part of a global effort towards social change and bettering society. We anticipate that this network will allow for an increased awareness of social enterprises across South Lanarkshire across the whole community, whether that be in education, the public sector, the private sector and across other local authorities.

We look forward to the future of this network and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work closely with those across South Lanarkshire who are involved with social enterprises both on a local scale and with national organisations which are a part of the Social Enterprise Ecosystem.
