VASLan Chairperson to step down and a new Chair will be appointed

VASLan – South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface – has today announced that Nancy Barr will be stepping down as Chairperson of the local charity.

Nancy Barr has confirmed that she will be stepping down from her role of 3 years but will remain in post until the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 23rd November 2022.

VASLan will begin recruiting for a new Chairperson soon.

Nancy Barr, the outgoing Chairperson of VASLan, said:

‘It has been a tremendous privilege to serve on the board of VASLan for a period of nine years. While there have been many challenges over that time, these have been overshadowed by the successes achieved and the experience of working with committed, passionate people, whose hearts are invested in the third sector’s aim to improve life for others.

Working with Steven and the VASLan staff, and also with my fellow board members, has been a great pleasure and I know that, as a team, they will continue to lead the sector in South Lanarkshire into new, emerging opportunities with dedication and commitment. VASLan is in good hands’

Steven Sweeney, Chief Executive of VASLan, said:

“The relationship between Chair and CEO is critical in the success of any third sector organisation. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and authentic values-based leader to guide me through my first 18 months in post.”

Eternally grateful, thank you! I hope many of you will join us at our AGM in November to give Nancy the recognition and send off she so deserves.”

We would like to thank Nancy, most sincerely, for everything she has done for VASLan, especially during his tenure as Chairperson. She will be greatly missed.

If you have any questions about the transition or the organisation, do not hesitate to reach out to VASLan at office@vaslan.org.uk.
