Winners are revealed in the 2022 VASLan Third Sector Awards

A glittering virtual ceremony, hosted by VASLan’s Sustainability and Collaboration Development Officer Peter McGhee, has been held on ZOOM event to celebrate the wonderful work of the third sector in South Lanarkshire.

VASLan Third Sector Awards took place on Thursday (17/11) evening to showcase the achievements of organisations and volunteers in South Lanarkshire.

The excellent work of Third Sector organisations was celebrated across Scotland and here in South Lanarkshire, we are proud of the work done to support our communities through seriously challenging times.

Winners were announced across the 8 categories at the awards which was hosted by one and only Peter McGhee, VASLan’s Sustainability and Collaboration Development Officer.

VASLan Chief Executive, Steven Sweeney said: “Tonight’s event is all about recognition for volunteers to organisations that doing all the great work. Respect and appreciation go to the sector for the commitment to support the community.”

VASLan Chairperson, Nancy Barr said: “We are pleased to be able to celebrate all the work of the third sector in South Lanarkshire, and to recognise the great achievement and you are amazing. And while we are excited to find out who the winners are, the efforts of everyone in the sector helps makes South Lanarkshire a better place to live.”

“So, this is the night of celebration. On behalf of the board of VASLan I would like to say thanks, to the judges for the hard work, for the staff at VASLan, and to every organisation representing tonight.”

Winner: Lucy McCormack of Law and District Amateur Athletic Club

Long-Serving Volunteer Award

Winner: James McAllister of Larkhall and District Volunteers Group

Volunteer of the Year Award

Winner: Lesley Davidson of Loaves and Fishes Foodbank
