East Kilbride Old Parish Church

East Kilbride Old Parish Church launched their community response group Helping Hands as soon as we entered lockdown!

They currently have 24 volunteers - 9 provide telephone calls for friendly chats and general Church updates! The other 15 volunteers provide out and about services such as prescription collection, grocery shopping and delivering/collecting mail!

They have helped with over 90 calls, over 88 grocery trips and over 69 prescription collections. They do this work whilst checking in in or calling Church members and servicing the needs of the congregation and community!

Volunteers also help to deliver the Church of Scotland's monthly magazine, Life and Work, to those who subscribe as well as the monthly Church Magazine (EKO) to the homes of the congregation during lockdown. This is gives members something to look forward to and keep those who are shielding/self-isolating entertained!

East Kilbride Old Parish Church are grateful to all the volunteers and equally appreciative of the very positive feedback from those the group has helped. The group is delighted that members have responded to the service and we are putting their trust in the group to help them during this challenging time
