Supporting New Scots in Lanarkshire Conference 2023

We would like to warmly invite you to our Supporting New Scots in Lanarkshire Conference on 22nd June 2023, 9.00 am - 4.00 pm, at the Glo Centre in Motherwell (78 Muir St, Motherwell ML1 1LP).

The term New Scots includes people who have been granted refugee status or another form of humanitarian protection and people seeking asylum. The purpose of this conference is to set a foundation for successful partnership working across sectors in accordance with the New Scots Strategy by:

Our Health Together & NHS Lanarkshire as an Anchor Institution

NHS Led community engagement session where there will be a presentation by NHS Lanarkshire regarding the 'Our Health Together' campaign followed by the opportunity for questions and then individual group discussions on the engagement questions.

The subject of Community Wealth Building can also be approached, and insight is given from NHS Lanarkshire as an anchor organisation.

VASLan: Moving to Action

We are absolutely delighted to be launching our new strategy for 2022 to 2024, ‘Moving to Action’.

Our previous strategy ended in 2020, and whilst around 65% to 70% was achieved, we perhaps fell a bit short in a few areas, including our approach to volunteering, and to social enterprise. Through the pandemic, we have been playing our part in supporting South Lanarkshire’s third sector emergency response, our sector stepping up when our communities needed it.

VASLan is now inviting applications from organisations and community groups across South Lanarkshire to apply for the small grant scheme Building and Celebrating Communities (BCC) programme. Plan Your Medicine Needs for Queen’s Jubilee Holiday

NHS Lanarkshire is asking patients to plan ahead for the Queens’ Jubilee holiday weekend when surgeries will be closed either Monday 30 May and Friday 3June or Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June depending on where the surgery is located.

For those practices where their patients would normally go to hospital in Glasgow, they will be taking the same public holidays as the Glasgow GPs which are Monday 30 May and Friday 3 June. These practices are listed below.
