Secondment Opportunities for the Supported Volunteering Programme

VASLan, in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council’s Local Employability Partnership, is seeking expressions of interest from third sector organisations across South Lanarkshire to host one of four part-time seconded posts.

About the Opportunity

-     Role: Seconded Vocational Development Support Worker (part-time)

 -    Hours: 17.5 hours per week

-     Duration: 1 October 2025 – 31 March 2026 (with potential for a further 12 months, subject to performance and outcomes and on-going funding)

-     Locations: One post in each locality area:

·     Hamilton

·     Clydesdale

·     East Kilbride

·     CamGlen (Cambuslang/Rutherglen)

Remuneration: The host organisation will receive £20,000 per annum for the 17.5-hour post. While the contract with South Lanarkshire Council is for six months in the first instance (£10,000), there is potential for an additional 12 months, subject to performance, outcomes achieved, and the continuation of funding.

Purpose of the Role

-     Support the delivery of the Supported Volunteering Programme, helping individuals furthest from the labour market to access meaningful, structured volunteering opportunities.

-     In partnership with VASLan, support the liaison between third sector host organisations, who are hosting supported volunteers with Routes to Work South, and South Lanarkshire Council’s employability teams.

-     Enhance outcomes for volunteers by providing supervision, mentoring, and progression support.

-     Contribute to organisational capacity building within the organisations who are hosting supported volunteers.

Eligibility

Organisations must:

-      Operate within one of the four locality areas listed above.

-      Demonstrate the capacity to host, supervise, and support the secondee.

-      Provide a supportive environment where volunteering activities contribute meaningfully to individual and community outcomes.

1.        Your organisation’s experience in supporting volunteers and/or employability outcomes.

2.        Your approach to supervision and support for the secondee.

3.        How hosting this role would benefit both your organisation, local third sector organisations and the wider community.
