Anubis Security

Anubis Security Limited has been helping support the community in Clydesdale!

They are always looking for ways that they can help their local community and this became an even bigger priority when we went into lockdown!

They began to do shopping for those who are self-isolating and shielding, leaving it on people's doorsteps so that they don't have any contact with Anubis staff. This has been so vital for the residents of the community and provides a lifeline for those in rural communities!

Care and Repair South Lanarkshire

Care and Repair South Lanarkshire assists clients with medical adaptions, telecare, key safes, repairs and maintenance and Safe as Houses assistance!

At the beginning of lockdown they were able to secure a grant for a temporary urgent small repairs service. The success of this service was tremendous and they were able to assist many who were shielding/self-isolating throughout South Lanarkshire.

Unfortunately, the service has come to an end, you can find out how the service helped support one woman:

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves & Fishes is a registered Scottish charity established for over 20 years. They are based in East Kilbride and support people in the community with food parcels, toiletries, and in Glasgow, a sit down meal for vulnerable people.

I Spy A Rainbow

I Spy A Rainbow's mission is to help spread some cheer in Hamilton by brightening up the streets with children's art work on display in windows and doors for everyone to see!

Their Facebook page is filled with pictures that children have been working on throughout lockdown, along with this there are weekly topics, themes and competitions. This gives everyone something to look forward to, participate in and feel a sense of achievement and inclusion!

Glassford Community Group

Glassford Community Group has recently gained charitable status after an amazing 5 years working in the community, with a little help from VASLan!

The group has done incredible work to improve the playpark, gravyeard and are working towards an asset transfer of the community hall! The group has also funded the purchase and installation of defibrillator and arranges training sessions for the residents!

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit they could be helping the most vulnerable in the community so began collecting prescriptions and shopping!

MorphFit Gentle Movement Project

Morphfit Gentle Movement Project is a new social enterprise which was founded in the wake of coronavirus.

The project aims to work with people who have a variety of conditions and illnesses to help improve their general wellbeing, mental and physical health.

Last week they received funding from Foundation Scotland after the help from Peter and Stuart here at VASLan. This will allow them to start delivering services via zoom. This will give people the chance to benefit from gentle movement and communicate with others who are experiencing the same or similar conditions.

Waist Not Want Not

Waist Not Want Not have been continuing their referrals throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and providing vital donations of clothing to those who are vulnerable!

They quickly adapted to the circumstances by supporting their peer group members online through messenger, this allows members to share resources, ask advice etc. They have also been hosting a weekly zoom call where people can partake in quizzes, challenges, meditation sessions but also just a general catch up!
