I am delighted this week to join Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASLan) as Chief Executive, as my first action I'd like to reach out and open communication with you all. Successful collaboration is built on human connection and positive relationships, I look forward to meeting with many of you over the initial coming weeks and months in post. VASLan, and indeed South Lanarkshire's Third Sector, is open for business and I'd love to hear from you as I familiarise myself with the local context.

Relocating from Montrose Crescent

On Monday 1st March we locked the doors to 155 Montrose Crescent for the last time as we continue our relocation process! Throughout this time and until our relocation is complete our staff will continue to work from home.

We want to assure you that it remains business as usual, all our staff and systems are fully equipped to operate remotely, and you should see no change in how we work with you during this time.

Impact of COVID-19 on the Third Sector in South Lanarkshire

A recent national survey highlighted that several Scottish charities foresaw a critical threat to their finances at some point within the next 12 months.

To consider this at a local level VASLan would ask that you complete this Survey asking about the financial impact on your organisation. In addition, uncertainty has been a commonly referenced operational challenge for many organisations, with many feeling frustrated that they do not know when they will be able to resume usual activity and feeling unable to plan long term. The survey also looks for your view in this regard.

Scottish Government Engagement: Your Views - Strengthening Scottish Charity Law

COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of a strong charity sector in Scotland and good governance has been crucial in steering charities through these challenging times. The legal environment within which Scotland’s 25,000 charities operate is critical to this, which is why the Scottish Government’s Programme for Government for 20-21 included a commitment to re‑start its engagement on changes to charity law.

Community and Voluntary Sector Support

Throughout the last 10 months there has been unprecedented levels of support by members of the community and Third Sector/Voluntary groups working collectively alongside the Statutory Agencies to ensure support for the wider community. The scale of engagement over this extended period has been phenomenal. We would like to again take the opportunity to thank you for this.

Integrated Care Fund Re Opens

The Integrated Care Fund will re-open for fresh applications on Wednesday 6th January until Friday 12th February 2021.  During this round, applicants may request up to 2 years funding.   Collaborative applications are encouraged within these areas of delivery to maximise reach and impact.

Applications will be considered for funding to a maximum of £80,000 per year.
