We were absolutely delighted to be joined by more than 25 members, guests, as well as VASLan Third Sector Awards 2022 winners, finalists, and judges.

A glittering virtual ceremony, hosted by VASLan’s Sustainability and Collaboration Development Officer Peter McGhee, has been held on ZOOM event to celebrate the wonderful work of the third sector in South Lanarkshire.

VASLan Third Sector Awards took place on Thursday (17/11) evening to showcase the achievements of organisations and volunteers in South Lanarkshire.

The excellent work of Third Sector organisations was celebrated across Scotland and here in South Lanarkshire, we are proud of the work done to support our communities through seriously challenging times.

APPLICATION IS CLOSED - VASLan to invest £30,000 in sector to help with cost-of-living crisis

News Date

VASLan will be distributing £30,000 in grants to the Third sector in South Lanarkshire to help community’s cope with the rising cost of living. Grants of up to £1,000 are available to local community organisations who have project ideas that will support local people this winter.

System Upgrade: OSCR On-Line Portal

Office of Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) upgraded their system to OSCR On-Line which went live on 25th July 2022.

Existing charities have been notified by email and should have received new log-in details around this date. If you have not received these then you should contact OSCR using the following link as you will need the log-in details to submit your annual returns.

VASLan Impact Report 2021-2022: Looking Back, Moving Forward

While still under restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic and with community emergency response initiatives still being delivered, there was a sense of emergence and future planning.

Following our announcement that VASLan Chairperson is stepping down, we are now looking to appoint a new Chairperson to lead on the ongoing good governance of our organisation. For the new Chair, we are looking for a values-based leader who's personal values align with those of the organisation and sector. You will Chair our Board Meetings, line manage our CEO and represent VASLan at key events.

VASLan: Moving to Action

We are absolutely delighted to be launching our new strategy for 2022 to 2024, ‘Moving to Action’.

Our previous strategy ended in 2020, and whilst around 65% to 70% was achieved, we perhaps fell a bit short in a few areas, including our approach to volunteering, and to social enterprise. Through the pandemic, we have been playing our part in supporting South Lanarkshire’s third sector emergency response, our sector stepping up when our communities needed it.

VASLan Chairperson to step down and a new Chair will be appointed

VASLan – South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface – has today announced that Nancy Barr will be stepping down as Chairperson of the local charity.

Nancy Barr has confirmed that she will be stepping down from her role of 3 years but will remain in post until the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 23rd November 2022.

VASLan will begin recruiting for a new Chairperson soon.

Community in South Lanarkshire celebrates the relaunching of Third Sector Locality Network

News Date

VASLan – Third Sector Interface in South Lanarkshire – has launched the first event of Third Sector Locality Network at The Church Halls of St Nicholas in Lanark on Friday, 16th September 2022.

The event is in collaboration with Clydesdale Community Initiative (CCI) Scotland and Healthy Valleys, local organisations that play a role in supporting the communities in the Clydesdale locality.
